For GMs & directors of rooms

Bell desk reporting. See the work behind the welcome.

A busy lobby is easy to notice. The work behind it can be harder to assess. Docket brings recorded bell desk activity into view, so hotel leaders can review demand, service performance and staffing with their team.

Workload and staffing

Look at the hours, not just the daily total.

Arrivals, room deliveries, stored bags and departures put different demands on the desk through the day. Workload by day and hour helps you see when those demands overlap and where coverage deserves a closer look.

OPERA Cloud reporting adds expected arrivals and departures, helping you prepare for demand as well as review the work already done. Bring that picture to the roster discussion alongside your team's experience.

Questions for the operations review

Start with a question your hotel needs answered.

The report is a starting point for a conversation. Follow the recorded activity back to the work before drawing a conclusion.

01

When does the desk need more coverage?

Workload by day and hour, with arrivals, deliveries and departures recorded by the team.

Compare busy windows with the roster and speak to the team about where work builds up.

02

Where is service taking longer?

Recorded service timings and outstanding jobs, with the activity history behind the work.

Look into delayed work and its context before deciding whether the cause is coverage, process or a one-off event.

03

How is the work shared?

Staff activity and workload, with attribution where captured.

Use the recorded work to start a coaching or handover conversation, alongside the tasks that happen away from the log.

04

What is happening in the carpark?

Recorded valet revenue and revenue per available bay-night for properties using the valet workflow.

Review parking activity against available capacity, keeping the reporting period and configured bay count in view.

Keep service timings connected to the request.

HotSOS shows when requests reached Bell, how the team responded and when accepted work was completed. That context helps a manager follow up on outstanding work and discuss service standards with Communications and the bell team.

Know what the figures can tell you.

Reports depend on the work staff record, the timing of those entries and the information available to your hotel. Staff attribution and service timings need that context; a lower recorded count alone does not tell you how someone's shift went.

Timestamped baggage history also gives the hotel a record for handovers and compensation reviews. It is one part of the wider picture, alongside workload, service performance and valet activity.
